Graduate Certificate

The graduate certificate in Hispanic Studies gives students an advanced knowledge of literary, cultural and intellectual movements of the Spanish-speaking world and of the key scholarly debates that animate their study. In addition, students develop competence in academic writing and speaking in the certificate language.

Program Requirements

  • Three seminars in the certificate program
    • At least two of the courses should be taken at the 2000-level; at least one of the seminar papers for those courses should be in the certificate language
  • At least one papers in the certificate language
  • A piece of work in the certificate area
  • Participation in the Hispanic Studies colloquium or similar venue

Applications are made through UFunds, and can be found under "Doctoral Certificate."

Application Requirements

  • A minimum of intermediate proficiency in the certificate language
  • A 250-450 word statement of purpose
  • A plan for completion of the requirements
  • Approval from the DGS or chair of the home department
  • AB.A. or M.A. transcript
